Thanks Governor for "Job well done."
(Orlando) Ax the Tax, the largest and most prominent grassroots anti-tax organization in Florida took the unusual step of commending and thanking Governor Rick Scott for his vision and foresight in stopping the proposed $3 billion high speed rail (HSR) boondoggle.
"Today we see that Florida taxpayers are more safer than ever with the re-allocation of Obama-stimulus dollars going to a host of other states. Thank God that money is now going - with strings attached - to other states and not to Florida," Guetzloe stated.
Ax the Tax has led the fight against rail proposals since 1997 and has led taxpayers in defeated seven separate rail proposals in Florida, never losing a rail battle. The latest victory was in Hillsborough County last November when Ax the Tax spent over $100,000 to help Hillsborough taxpayers vote down a light rail proposal.
"Receiving that federally borrowed money would have ushered in a never-ending mandate to raise taxes to support a system that continually would operate at a deficit. Governor Scott has relieved Florida taxpayers of funding this boondoggle in perpetuity and we thank him for it," Guetzloe concluded.
Ax the Tax is one of the leading founding members of VETOSUNRAIL.ORG, the largest coalition of current and past elected officials and the largest statewide anti-tax groups; Ax the Tax; Florida Taxpayers Union and the Coalition for Liberty; ever assembled. Additionally dozens of tea party; 912 groups and individual taxpayers have signed their name to the VETOSUNRAIL.ORG Resolution urging the Governor to stop the SunRail boondoggle.
